Covidien and Sleep Pointe, an organization that provides sleep apnea management and wellness programs within the transportation industry, have joined forces. The partnership is designed to help keep drivers safe by increasing the availability of diagnostic and therapeutic resources.
As part of the program, Covidien will supply its sleep products. Sleep Pointe has set up Mobile Sleep Solution Centers in various locations across the country. The centers are built on 53-foot trailers and feature private bedrooms, bathrooms and a fully functional sleep technician room.
The Sleep Pointe program coincides with Covidien's plans to expand its Unite to Treat Sleep Apnea initiative to support comprehensive solutions that better enhance diagnosis, treatment and compliance in the sleep care industry.
"It takes more than just products to address the growing problem of sleep apnea," says Patrick Virnich, vice president of global marketing, Sleep and Oxygen, Covidien. "It takes the right programs geared toward improving awareness of the disease. It takes programs to help improve compliance of patients around their treatment, and it takes dedicated professionals to help unite the stakeholders in sleep disorder diagnosis and treatment. Covidien is working with the clinicians, sleep labs, and home care providers to provide the best products, programs and people to make sure that patients are given the best chance to treat this important disease."
Sleep Pointe is a sister company of Somnograph, a privately-held sleep diagnostic company.
