Don Strong, a registered respiratory therapist (RRT) at Cumberland Medical Center in Crossville, Tenn., wants your vote. The former home care therapist is running for U.S. representative in the Tennessee primary Aug. 7.
Strong, a Republican candidate, has built his platform around health care, professing convictions for advanced, affordable health care, pledging to address the RT shortage and speaking out against reductions in seniors’ benefits.
Strong has worked as a general manager with American HomePatient, clinical specialist with MedCenters Homecare and area manager with Vencare Health Services.
“I would do my best to protect the safety of the home health care patient by ensuring that oxygen reimbursements are not cut to a level that is unprofitable for providers and therefore unsafe for patients receiving DME services,” Strong says. “I am convinced that it is less expensive in the long run to provide adequate services in the home and practice preventative medicine vs. providing services in the emergency room or other acute care setting that becomes necessary due to patients being underserviced by DME providers that are undercompensated.” Find out more at www.donaldstrong.com.
