Medtrade Moments: Sleep Talking
Ed Grandi stopped by the RM booth to chat about the American Sleep Apnea Association, a non-profit patient advocacy group. The ASAA sponsors a network of support groups called AWAKE groups, and the association’s Web site receives about two million unique page views per month. Many of the ASAA’s members are HME providers, some of whom help coordinate the support groups. The ASAA provides resources to HMEs to help them in their goal of providing a high level of patient care for CPAP users. According to Grandi, the most important aspects of the ASAA are patient support and advocacy: “We teach people they are not vulnerable, that they have choices.”
